MRMS + Universal Player (working title)
The Mixed Reality Management System (MRMS) and the universal player are the spiritual successors to the MR platform at the IWF, even though they share not a line of code. After development there was stopped, I decided to build my own system – one that can go beyond a proof of concept and offers considerably more interaction.
I picked up the distributed architecture of server plus local instance again: MRMS forms the backend, including asset delivery, a multiplayer manager and a simple level editor. The universal player takes the platform flexibility of the old platform and turns it up to eleven.
On a phone, several gestures can be used in parallel for navigation. A robust cross-platform interaction concept ensures every platform gets every input option. On the desktop the classic movement options from video games are optionally added, while in mixed reality two hands open up considerably more. That way each platform plays to its strengths without making the others useless.
The entire scene system has moved from a table-based structure to JSON – for more interactivity and more complex levels.
