My first entry in a game jam, the Godot XR GameJam. The theme was "Rewind". My goal: the player should literally have to rewind themselves and retrace their own movements.

The result was this game: you are stuck in time and can only move using the "time gloves". The gloves consume energy as you move, and leave it behind in the room. The only way to collect it is to perform the movement exactly in reverse – and to complete your task you have to move a lot. So every movement needs to be deliberate.

For a first entry, a mid-table placement leaves me very happy. I learned a great deal from the testers' let's plays: my in-game explanation of the mechanic wasn't sufficient, and a display bug in that very mechanic left many players further confused. I had also always assumed a certain play area for mixed reality – the jam confronted me with the fact that many people play seated and struggled to reach the controls in my entry.

The core idea went down well. I found the physics-based switches and levers very appealing myself, and the underlying system for tasks, outcomes and interactions has shaped the concept behind the MRMS universal player.

Many thanks to my wife Anna for her voice work :)
