Real-time muscle simulation

Real-time muscle simulation

This project was my first contact with the Unity engine, and even here it showed that I quickly think in larger formats. The assignment in a lecture was to build an interactive representation of muscle movement.

What I made of it: a system that generates the muscles directly as animated elements from a few pieces of information in an anatomical 3D model. It shows both the change in shape and the extension or flexion in each pose – gravity left aside – and expresses both through colour coding.

In the end you could move the model freely and read off which muscles matter for which movement. I developed it with the arm in mind; in one test, however, almost the entire body worked.
